You want to take care of your car.  Maybe you’ve even called our service department to ask about maintenance schedules.   If you’ve purchased a new Hyundai you most likely have an owner’s manual.  But if you bought a pre-owned Hyundai the owner’s manual may be long gone.  No worries, though! You can find regualr maintenance schedules and more on the Hyundai website.  It’s easy!  Click here and enter the required information.  Don’t worry if you don’t know some of the answers;  As long as you enter the year, make and model, some of the other spaces will populate.  After entering your current mileage you’ll be offered information about the next recommended service, a service schedule for the entire life of the vehicle, and a chart showing you which inspections should take place at which mileage intervals.  Then, all that’s left to do is schedule your service appointment, which you can also do on-line!  Visit our  Butler Auto Group website, fill out the form, and we’ll get in touch with you to confirm your service date.  Your Hyundai will thank you for it.

February 2013 Hyundai Owner’s Open House

IMG_2097It was a treat getting to see all the new Hyundai owners who attended last night’s Open House at Butler Hyundai. We hope all got plenty to eat, won some cool and valuable prizes, and went home with all questions answered and all technology thoroughly explained. Thank you to everyone who helped make this intimate gathering a success! We look forward to seeing you at our next Hyundai Open House on Thursday, August 15th, 2013!

Why Attend Butler Hyundai Owners Clinics?

Butler Auto Group held its first Owners Clinic/Open House nearly a year ago and, in that time, we’ve learned some things.  First, we’ve almost mastered the formula for determining how much food to buy.  Second, we’ve discovered how much fun it is getting to know you!  And third and most importantly, we have a better idea what you hope to get out of the experience.  Butler Service Manager Curtis Hancock says, while every customer is different, many of you have similar questions.  The following are the most popular topics addressed at our events.

  • All things technological and electronic.  The steps for pairing your phone or garage door opener with your vehicle aren’t always intuitive.  Curtis says a majority of customers who attend our open houses are looking for help getting synched with their car.
  • Spare tires.  Some cars don’t have them.  Some Hyundai models, for example, come stock with a flat tire repair kit instead of an extra tire, which is great but only if you know how to use it.  We’ll teach you.
  • Introductions.  We’ve always found it a little weird that service and maintenance work kind of takes place behind the curtain.  While we understand the necessity of such (it would be unsafe to let you wander around in our shops) it’s still odd that you drop your car off without knowing who’s working on it.  So, we decrease the mystery by having all our service technicians on hand for you to meet, chat with, and get to know.  That way, you won’t have to convince yourself your vehicle’s in good hands; you’ll know it for sure.
  • Warranties.  What does yours cover, and for how long?  We help clear up the misconceptions and tell you which items are most important to have taken care of at a dealership and why.

So, that’s just some of the information you say you appreciate learning.  On the fun side, there are free raffle prizes (a new set of tires, anyone?), coupons for discounts on service work and accessories, and a complimentary car wash.  Not to mention the food… a light dinner complete with a tasty assortment of desserts.   It all makes for a sweet evening, indeed.

Warm Weather Driving Prep: Get Your Vehicle Set for Summer

Summer’s a’comin’! So, it’s time again to treat your vehicle to a little TLC. Last November, we posted a list of everything you might need to tackle winter driving conditions. Now that the studded and snow tires have (hopefully) been removed, here’s how to travel worry free into the warmer months:

1. Check tires. Remove and store your winter tires, and rotate all-season radials.

2. Check tire pressure. And check again. Because air pressure increases with temperature you’ll want to check your tire pressure more frequently during the summer months.

3. Check brakes for noise. You’re looking for grinding, squealing, screeching or chatter. Excessive amounts of any or all mean it’s time to invest in new ones.

4. Replace windshield wiper blades. They took a beating over the winter.

5. Wash it! And not just the parts you can see. Spray the underbody and undersides of both bumpers to get rid of build-up. As for the body, wash it in the shade. Then wax it. But wait until it’s completely dry before doing so.

6. Apply “sunscreen”. Hours in the sun can result in the cracking of any vinyl surface or the fading of cloth. Apply a protectant… reapply when needed.

7. Clean – and clean OUT – the interior. You don’t want your old trash blowing around when it’s finally warm enough to drive with the windows down.

8. Change the oil. Consider synthetics… they’re specifically designed for warm weather engine protection.

9. Check all fluids. That means brake, transmission, coolant, power steering and windshield washer fluid. Replace, or refill, to proper levels.

10. Test the AC.

11. Examine belts and hoses for wear or deterioration.

12. Consider assembling a car care kit, if you don’t already have one. Include a couple large bottles of water, non-perishable food items, jumper cables, a flashlight with extra batteries, road flares or an emergency beacon, basic hand tools, and a first aid kit. Maybe throw in a blanket, just in case.

Finally, be aware that heat often makes people uncomfortable and thus, irritated. Irritated drivers tend to be impatient and less apt to pay attention. Give drivers their space and stay alert.

Now all that’s left to do is plan a road trip! Happy travels!
